Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent the Russian player secured his maiden title for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has experienced a challenging period, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in particular - led to him exiting of the top ten and ultimately splitting with former trainer his previous coach.

Currently training with Johansson and his other coach, he has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's first trophy following the Rome competition and first on a hard court from March of that year.

Success also means he has won twenty-one victories at 21 distinct events.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters together, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I got when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six championship matches, comprising in that event previously this season.

His defensive approach and recurring emotional displays on court had prompted some to question if his skill to play at the top level was over.

However the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and play positively, supported by an improved serving game.

He recovered from a break down in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, securing four of the last five points to take the lead.

Both players exchanged break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden professional victory, gained dominance to create a final set.

He saved four initial chances in a close final set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev secured the win with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman failing to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
